The Fox symbol is now one of the most recognisable brands on the planet and for good reason. Beautifully branded and associated with the top athletes in motorcross, this company has shown itself to be continually at the top of the pack in relation to style, comfort and durability. When riders wear this clothing their performance improves. Full stop. Now that is one huge claim to fame!
Yet funnily enough when the brand was first revealed, the owner did not set up an apparel store but instead developed an elite set of motorcross motorcycles in 1977. True to the quality we know today these bikes were in demand within two years and truly exploded when the owner Geoff Fox created his very own motorcross team and had them race in the highly-competitive AMA 125cc National Championship series. His team placed well and demand grew. However, the demand was not only for his bikes and engineered parts, but also for the specifically designed clothing that his riders wore.
Geoff Fox saw a new niche and he hit it hard and well by developing a new set of fox shoes and clothing that would keep up with the motorcross rider. Think strength with low weight and incredible style.
Leading on from his initial success the Fox group grew by getting involved in sponsorship deals so that the very best in motorcross and similar sports where seen to be wearing the fox brand. This in turn has led to a domination of not only the traditional motorcross sport but also into areas such as BMX.
In fact, Fox has now gone further and aligned itself with extreme sports and is one of the biggest names in sporting apparel across the board with a particular emphasis on the youth market. If you pay attention you will see the fox branding everywhere – fox shoes, t-shirts and definitely on caps.
What is great is that Fox also puts a lot into research and development of its goods so there is a good chance you will continue to see great things from Fox for many years to come.
